Young Futures is delighted to announce that it has recently received a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All, in order to deliver weekly group therapy sessions for one year to the young women leaving care we support at the Yvonne House residential therapeutic unit. Yvonne House provides accommodation, keyworking support and therapy for up to nine young women leaving care between the ages of 16 and 21, all with high levels of need.
These group therapy sessions are an important addition to Young Futures’ therapy offering at Yvonne House. They will complement the individual therapy sessions that are already delivered to young people we support, providing another way to address complex mental health issues resulting from traumatic histories.
The group sessions will also help to build a mutual support network between the young people who attend, allowing them to work through difficult issues in a supportive environment, while building their social skills around emotional issues.
The Awards for All grant will also provide funding for Young Futures to provide therapeutic supervision for its night staff at Yvonne House. This supervision is extremely important, as it will allow staff members to work through difficult issues that arise during their work with young people. The supervision is already provided to day staff at Yvonne House, and has led to reduced stress levels among staff, and a concomitant enhancement in the quality of the service that they have then been able to provide to young people.
Many thanks from all at Young Futures to the National Lottery Awards for All for its ongoing support for our work!
