Nurture Nature’ – Youth in Action
In October 2013 Young Futures participated in a youth exchange programme with 29 young people from Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania and Turkey. ‘Nature Nurture’ took place in Turgutlu, Turkey on 27/10/2013-02/11/2013.
Care leavers travelled with Young Futures for a week long Youth in Action programme funded by the EU. With a focus on environmental awareness our young people planted trees, visited dams and hot springs, painted a community wall, visited local villages, learnt how to make simple foods from seasonal produce, created environmental posters and joined in with a variety of team building games. They also presented to the group on environmental matters in the UK and on the cultural, political and social aspects of life in London. Friendships were forged and the project enabled young people from different countries to work alongside one another, encouraging initiative and creativity, facilitating active participation and providing an intercultural learning experience.
3. Wanting to turn back
DAY TWO – A spiral of emotions!
5. Felling better
DAY THREE – My favourite day so far!
All day was happy
Really enjoyed it!
SO MUCH FUN!
Going to miss the friends I’ve made
Part of me secretly wants to stay (shhh)
6. New faces
7. New surroundings
5. Bad memories
9. Shutting down
Started off great, beautiful scenery. More new people, anxiety, anxiety, sad, hurt, memories, hibernating, altercation. Reconcile. Writing.
Very hard, hibernating, at the end of the day reconciled, got my thoughts out. Slept feeling relieved, ready for a change. I also learnt about myself and others.
Okay. Writing more. Teaching myself positive thinking and living.
